MAJAICO was short form from Malaysia Japan Automotive Industry Cooperation and this initiative was under Japan Malaysia Economic PArtnership Agreement (JMEPA) that signed by both country Prime Minister on Jun 2006.
This initiative was another cooperation agreement in economic after Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) kick off.As this agreement focus mostly to win-win situation formula in Agriculture & automotive sector but the perception of Malaysian to this kind initiative was warm. This agreement also want to spur Malaysian automotive industry to par with Japanese counterparts especially for parts vendors but the 10 proposed projects not fully utilize by vendors.
Project- project inside this initiative was human capital development, vendors technology development, trade mission, exhibition etc. All project implemented initially very slow acceptance but gradually when 1st batch of the participants complete the program and mouth spread the benefit of it, the program start getting intention from various people including media and politicians. But the 1st batch of program mostly sponsored by Japanese Government and take care by their respective agencies make the 1st batch program got full mark. In the reverse of the program that Malaysia organize, the completion of program full of dramas no budget, no person in charge etc.
Malaysian as Malaysia Boleh spirit, not make full use of the program to benefit it to their organization but always keeping request many things and keeping give a funny reason for not attended the committee meeting. When the simple thing also not committed, so how will Malaysian vendors survived in this border less economic ?
